Orlando avait la meilleure chance de rafler la mise mais c’est encore Nick Gilbert qui remporte le gros lot. Le fiston du propriétaire des Cavaliers, atteint de neubrofibromatose, a de nouveau porté chance à la franchise de Cleveland qui remporte donc le 1er choix de la draft pour la 3e fois en 10 ans (après LeBron James et Kyrie Irving).
Orlando tombe donc à la seconde position alors que Washington a réussi à se hisser à la troisième place.
